TRANSPORTATION MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST 2 – Oakridge

The Transportation Maintenance Specialist 2 functions on Maintenance Crews and perform any required manual labor or equipment operation necessary to maintain, repair and/or reconstruct roadway/highway, freeway, bridge and/or rest area facilities. Our highway maintenance crews operate light and heavy equipment, perform manual labor and help maintain, repair and reconstruct roadways, highways, freeways, bridges, signs, and landscape. Position located in Oakridge.

As Transportation Maintenance Specialist 2, you will:

Maintain roadside turf and arboreal areas. Repair, maintain and install irrigation systems as needed. Service and repair equipment and tools.

Maintain restrooms and information centers at rest areas. May oversee janitorial contractors maintaining building interiors.

Perform traffic control tasks and emergency work such as vehicle accident assistance or removing road hazards.

Perform minor surface repair, build/repair roadway shoulders and bike paths, and perform minor construction.

Dig and clean ditches, catch basins and drainage systems. Repair culverts, inlets and erosion.

Clean brush; mow grass; spray pesticides and herbicides; dispose of roadside debris.

Perform minor surface repair including hand, pothole and concrete patching, and small inlay work.

Sweep highway facilities such as shoulders and intersections.

Perform clean-up of sidewalks, graffiti, paving, bridge walks, islands, etc.

Repair and rebuild fences.

Sand and clear snow from roadways.

Maintain, repair or replace guardrails, barriers, fences, glare screens, roadway delineators or milepost markers.

Position Qualifications include:

You must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain the CDL within six months of hire. Some positions will require specific endorsements and/or require the CDL in order to be considered; AND

Two years of maintenance and/or construction experience in roadway/highway, bridge, sign, drawbridge or landscape; AND

Experience in each of the following areas:

Operating heavy and/or light motorized equipment such as construction, logging or farm equipment;

Using hand and power tools;

Performing minor servicing of equipment; AND

Applying safety procedures.
