Sunday, August 29th, 2010JOB DESCRIPTION: Serves as the principal non-physician manager responsible for all of the Center’s clinical and research business activities and administrative services in all its sites.
(Some centers are research focused with little or no clinical operations.
) Assists the Director and faculty in successfully developing, promoting, implementing, and achieving the Center’s strategic plans for research and patient care.
Manages the operational and administrative components of the center which may involve The Emory Clinic, Emory University Hospitals, and Emory affiliated hospitals (the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Grady Memorial Hospital, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
) Recruits and supervises staff to support the academic, clinical and administrative activities at all sites in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Manages the center’s finances and analyzes revenue.
Compiles and analyzes data and develops reports.
Provides administrative management of clinical and research operations, including compliance with University and government regulations.
Handles facilities management responsibilities, including compliance with environmental safety and other regulations.
Assists the Director and faculty in strategic planning and development in research and clinical operations, business, and programs.
Works with all participants and others to ensure that the Center renders high quality patient care and services, including efficient patient flow/access, resolution of treatment issues, coordination of ancillary services, oversight of medical records, and enhancement of patient support and service improvement.
Develops and maintains excellent information technology services and internet presence for research participants and patients, working with Emory University and Emory Healthcare.
Provides dynamic, collegial, and intelligent leadership and liaisons in assuring that clinical operations of the Center are expert, efficient, and cost-effective, and that the Center fulfills its research goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A master’s degree in healthcare administration, finance, health policy, public health, or a related field emphasizing management and accounting.
Minimum of five (5) years of managerial experience in healthcare administration.
Documented successful clinical and/or academic management experience, both operational and fiscal, including prior Profit & Loss responsibilities.
Demonstrated leadership in strategic planning in healthcare management, including resource allocation processes.
Operational understanding of the academic setting and administration, its diverse constituents, and complex healthcare organizational structures.
Preferred Qualifications In addition, the following qualifications are preferred.
Demonstrated leadership in human resources management and development.
Demonstrated expertise in budget and accounts management and tracking, Cost Accounting Standards, and academic and healthcare fiscal compliance and audit matters.
Working knowledge of transplantation programs strongly desired.
Demonstrated evidence of strong interpersonal and communications skills; collegial teamwork in accomplishing organization’s academic and clinical fiscal/operational goals.
Ability to prepare and submit budgets and financial strategies to university administration.
Ability to conceptualize and articulate plans and expectations internally and externally to diverse audiences.
Additional Job Details This position manages the operational and administrative components of the Transplant Center which involves The Emory Clinic, Emory University Hospital, and Emory University.
The Senior Center Administrator serves as primary physician practice administrator for The Emory Clinic Transplant physician group.
