Develops gauge designs to inspect unique characteristics of medical devices, when alternative inspection techniques are not feasible or economical.
The Gage Designer is also responsible for the procurement of newly designed gages.
These models must be suitable for internal concurrent manufacture, CMM data extraction and vendor translation.
Expected Areas of Competence (KSA’s)- Develop electronic models and drawings per ANSI and ASME drafting standards, utilizing Unigraphics software within a Team Center PLM database.
- Familiar with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and capable of applying GD&T callouts to drawings per ASME Y 145- Innovative in developing new gage designs within the development cycle timelines.
- Comply with Zimmer and standards to create product models and drawings that comply with Quality Systems regulations.
- Attend product print review meetings and guide GD&T and good drafting practices on product drawings.
- Manages special assignments and maintenance responsibilities effectively.
Anticipates and minimizes conflicting deadlines.
Education/Experience Requirements- A 2 year technical degree or at least 5 years of design experience, preferably in tool or gage design- Must certify to the ASME Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Professional Test at the Technologist level- Past experience in dimensional inspection and/or manufacturing is preferred
