Saturday, July 31st, 2010The Institute for Aging Research (IFAR) at Hebrew SeniorLife has a great opportunity for a highly motivated Imaging Research Associate to conduct image processing in a research environment.
You will be an integral member of the Musculoskeletal team conducting a large-scale research project to better understand the genetics of osteoporosis.
Working under immediate supervision of a study investigator, the position will involve analyzing and storing image data from digital images of bone and muscle using image analysis software installed on a LINUX computer work station.
You will also prepare reports and tables summarizing data generated from image analyses.
This position will also involve significant written and verbal communication with scientists from nearby institutions to collaborate on measurements and calculations, and to report status updates.
Training on the proprietary image analysis software will be provided.
This position is grant funded and will last for one year.
However, there may be new opportunities within the Institute in which the Research Associate may apply towards the end of this assignment.
Qualified candidates must have a BS degree in engineering, physics, or computer science, and 0-3 years of related experience.
Familiarity with LINUX operating system preferred.
Proficient in using MS Excel and Word in order to manage data generated from image analysis and prepare graphical displays of data.
Knowledge of basic human anatomy and prior research experience are desired.
Prior experience with medical imaging is an advantage, but not required.
You must be detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
You should have the ability to work independently, identify problems, and seek resolution by collaborating with imaging specialists from external institutions.
You should also be content with repetitive work.
This position will require repetitive use of full arm and wrist for typing, drawing, and clicking with keyboard and mouse.
