Diagnose trouble, disassemble engines and examine parts for defects and excessive wear. Director Income Tax Accounting and Special Projects

The Director, US Income Tax Accounting and Special Projects will be responsible for the preparation of the Corporation’s US quarterly and year-end tax provision in the Company’s financial reports. They should be intimately familiar with the requirements of both FAS 109 and Sarbanes-Oxley, including testing for SOX 404 certification purposes. This individual should also be familiar with the federal tax implications of international companies and be able to interface with peer positions both domestically and internationally. The Director will directly supervise a staff of one employee, but have indirect supervision of other tax departmental personnel in the preparation o the Company’s tax provision. In addition, they will have responsibility for the IRS federal income tax audits and significant special projects, including interaction with tax advisors in the completion of the R&D multi-million tax credit project. They should demonstrate leadership ability across the tax function and broadly across the MeadWestvaco business structure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

o Provide the leadership to ensure the proper levels of support for and the involvement of the business units and corporate functional areas for income tax accounting matters

o Direct the preparation of the Company’s income tax provision and associated analytical documents related to FAS 109 and Sarbanes Oxley compliance requirements.

o Establish strong communication channels with Corporate Controller’s Office to ensure timely and consistent tax accounting reporting.

o Responsible for the development of quarterly and annual effective tax rates estimates, monthly accounting tax provision, the adequacy of tax account reconciliations and deferred tax account roll forward analysis.

o Ensure the accuracy of all tax related research and data.

o Assist with Internal Revenue Service audits as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

o Bachelor’s degree required.

o 8 – 15 years experience; preferably a CPA with public accounting experience, as well as multi-national corporate experience.

o Extensive knowledge and experience in FAS 109, Accounting for Income Tax, and Sarbanes – Oxley requirements..

o Experience with CorpTax software and SAP preferred.

o Strong communications skills.

o Detailed and analytical in nature with the ability to diligently pursue tax related data.
